Storage Usage in Client – Current Status and Future Plans?

Hi there,

is there a way to check how much storage we are currently using in our client? And if this information is only accessible through support at the moment, could you let me know if there are plans to implement a feature that shows how much storage is available directly within the assets in the future?
We have been noticing for some time (and more so since yesterday) that Evolve occasionally takes longer to load (regardless of the browser) — whether it’s loading the preview or during the general creation of components/pages. We suspect this might be related to storage gradually filling up!?

PS: I can send the name of our client via private message.

Best regards
Lars

It’s highly unlikely to be due to storage.

When there is a drop in performance on a Tuesday that’s quite likely to be down to Evolve updating and therefore having to load from the server code that would normally be cached by your browser.

Equally there are of course occasional performance spikes on the servers, these usually don’t last long but if they do please get in touch with Evolve support.

Finally there is obviously a chance it could be your own internet connection that is the bottleneck.

I think you’re right, but I didn’t want to rule it out, because the assets might be stored on a different server, and access times could explain the loading times.

It can’t be the internet connection, as we’ve had similar issues today, and today everyone is working from home. It’s not a big deal though, as Evolve generally works well. We’ll keep an eye on it and contact support if necessary.

The main question remains: Is there any plan in the future to display the current storage usage in the client, either with the assets or elsewhere?

We regularly delete courses to save some storage space. Since we can easily re-import them, this helps reduce storage usage. However, some courses and assets remain longer because they are going through a revision process, and during that time, a number of courses and assets tend to accumulate.

Greetings

With respect to the performance issues, please see this post.
