Hi there,
I’m building a course and have applied the content locking extension. The page is made up of 5 articles and I’ve set the unlock criteria on each one (e.g. article 2 is unlocked by article 1 completion etc).
My understanding from the extension explanation is that there is a built in lock function that stops the user from scrolling down past currently unlocked content. But for me, the lock icon is not showing, and instead the whole page is open, with the locked article content showing but blurred out.
Is this expected behaviour? What is the lock and lock icon function in the extension for?
In speaking with colleagues, they have suggested using logic to show/hide content on the page, which makes sense to me. I’m just slight confused by this extension and the lock function.
Any explanation/support appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Tom
Hello Tom,
Content Locking shows the content on the page as if it were present but unviewable and there are 3 modes that can be used for this. These can be found and selected in the Content Locking settings for each Article once you have turned on the extension and locked the article:
Then under appearance choose the style and the icon:
You can also theme your locking in Theme > Article Locking.
Hi Helen, thanks for the swift response. My confusion is that the lock is not appearing on my page at all. The extension explanation page shows a screenshot of an Evolve page with a padlock icon on, with text saying “this article is locked”. But i’m not seeing this for the locked articles. i’m able to scroll up and down on the page, but with the locked content blurred out.
Tom
Hey Tom - can you DM me a link to your course please? It’s hard to diagnose without seeing what you are seeing
You should see this:
ah yep not seeing that. thanks just DM’d you.
Have replied in DMs but for the thread - it was to do with the article style for the locked article in question having no colours set for the Article Locking settings in the theme. Once some colours were added there, the lock and text showed up.
ah that’s good to know, thank you for investigating!
