Buttons only using general theme colors

I’m having issues with the colors of buttons. Specifically this is the submit buttons on a confidence slider. The button will only utilize the primary (text) and secondary (background) colors from the theme. In my case, these two colors are too close for proper contrast.

I’ve tried changing the background and text colors specifically for buttons in the theme controls, but nothing happens. I can only get the proper contrast on the buttons if I change the default colors in theme. I assume there’s something I haven’t clicked in order to enable the more granular button behaviors I’m looking for.

Any help is appreciated!

Update. This seems to have to do with the article style I chose. When selecting “no article style” the buttons are behaving as expected. The “Stand Out” and “Summary” styles create the problem. I’m new to the tool and still learning what all these things mean!

You can change the colors used in the Stand Out and Summary article styles if you need:

I’m guessing your theme is based on the ‘Cards’ theme, which was set up quite a long time ago - though to be honest I’m not sure we could guarantee that even the newer Evolve themes always meet color contrast rules as they are incredibly strict (arguably too strict)
