Stop users viewing course content while doing assessment

Hello, is there a way to stop users viewing the course content while doing the assessment? I have been testing the assessment and noticed I can leave the assessment to go back to the content pages then return to the assessment with the correct answer. I can do it through both the course navigation and home page button. This would make the assessment worthless if the users figured this out.

Thanks Féilim

Hello Felim,

There would be yes, using Logic - although I’m not sure what the problem would be with them accessing the content after they have seen it once already, if they need a refresher before they answer the questions?

If this is a more formal assessment than just a test-your-learning style quia at the end of a course, then you might want to look at locking away the content pages once the assessment page has loaded (this can be done using Logic) or even making the assessment a separate course to load in your LMS.

If you want to use something extremely formal then you could go the proctored learning route with something like Honorlock, which the Intellum platform provides.

I hope that helps - please provide more information regarding your needs and objective for this behavior if you wish.

Best wishes
Helen

Hi Helen,

Thanks for your suggestions. It is for a formal assessment so we do not want the learners accessing the content while in the assessment. I think my preferred option would be locking away the content pages once the assessment page has loaded. Can you show me how to do this?

Thanks,
Feilim

You’d need to use the Logic feature of Evolve to achieve this. Unfortunately it’s difficult to advise without knowing how familiar you are with this feature of Evolve or without knowing what the structure of your course is.

We do have a course that covers the Logic functionality in Evolve here.

If you have any further questions you can contact Evolve Support via the blue Resource Center icon in Evolve.
