Best Practices for Changing Fonts Between Language Versions

Hi All, we have several language versions for each of our courses. Unfortunately, some languages do not work well with the Brand’s font family. We can change the font by creating new Article Styles and switching those out, but not every font is controlled in an Article Style. How do we update these other fonts - like Course title, navigation, assessment, Hotgraphic titles and text, etc. without impacting all the other language versions? Can anyone share a solution?

Thank you,
Emily

Off the top of my head I would say create a new theme as a clone of the main one, tag the language on to the end of it’s name, and make the changes there? It will mean more to manage, but you can be very granular with the language versions then. Just track if there are any changes made to the original and make sure they’re also extended to the language versions?

I’ll see if I can think of anything else

Thanks Helen, this could work. Just trying to think through how to operationalize. If I then make a Duplicate of the Language Version so it becomes its own course with its own theme, how do I handle any subsequent updates to the XLIFF? Because now the course is in the Target Language and not English. So the XLIFFs don’t match.

Hi Helen, I wanted to add a follow-up as I found a work around and wanted to post here. I Duplicated the English version, downloaded a new XLIFF with the target language indicated and added it as a “revision” in our translation tool (this may not work in all translations tools). I generated and uploaded the new XLIFF in Evolve and applied the new theme for our language. Then I created a new Evolve course in Exceed and linked the two together. All appears to be working. Thanks again for your help!
