Pricing Question

Hi everyone, I could have missed something but it looks like the new Evolve is a different product to legacy Evolve.

Does this mean I’ll need to purchase a separate subscription from my current one, or is it included with my current subscription. My initial thought was to run both instances parallel to one another, but the ‘30 day free trial’ marketing in throwing me off a little.

I’m also very interested in knowing this, as we are working on our budget for next year.

From what I understand, in addition to what we’re already paying for the Legacy version, if we want to use the new version we would need to pay extra (would the prices be the ones that are listed here?), am I right?

And once the two versions of Evolve (legacy and the new versions) are merged, we would only need one subscription, correct?

I completely understand and see the added value of the new version and what it allows us to do. What I’m struggling to understand is why we need to pay for two subscriptions - one because we need to continue having access to our developed courses, and another to use the new version - if eventually these will be merged. Not to mention the uncertainty around what will happen when it comes to editing our old courses in the new Evolve version.
Could you please make this clearer or would it be best to contact customer support directly?

Thank you.

Hi @Asand & @SDias

Apologies for taking so long to respond, we are just consulting colleagues for a definitive answer for you both. I completely understand the need for clarity on this. Thanks for your patience!

Hiya @Asand & @SDias

Thanks for sharing your feedback — we know this change is important to many of our customers, and we want to be clear about what it means for you. Legacy Evolve will continue to be supported, so your existing courses and workflows remain safe. At the same time, the new Evolve is where we’re focusing our investment and innovation moving forward.

As an existing customer, you can request a free 30-day preview of the new Evolve at any time. After your preview, you can decide whether to keep working only in Legacy, continue with the new Evolve, or run both side by side while we build a migration pathway and add more features.

We’ve recently revised our overview post to include clarification about the new Evolve roadmap, pricing and access details, and a short FAQ that addresses the most common questions we’ve heard from customers. You can read it here: Evolve’s Future: What You Can Expect (and How to Help Shape It) : Intellum

Hi, thank you for the update. I see the post has been edited - but it still hasn’t given me total clarity.

I’m going to assume that we do have to pay for the new Evolve, alongside Legacy Evolve?

That’s correct — Legacy Evolve and the new Evolve are separate, but you only pay for the new version if you choose to continue after your 30-day preview:

Hi, I have to admit I’m super disappointed to read this. It makes it hard for those of us that are building content for the upcoming year. How do we guide our leadership on which product to build in? Budgets are tight, and so it’s unlikely many businesses would want to pay double to support two authoring tools during this cutover phase. What’s the path forward if an existing customer would like to cutover now to avoid duplicate fees?

Thank you,

Emily

@emily If I were you, I’d just take a look: Are the features of the new Evolve enough for your needs? Do you still need access to courses you’ve already created in Evolve? That’s what I’d base the decision on.

Personally, I would’ve preferred if you could just switch between the new and the old version within your own domain without extra costs. But from an economic standpoint, I can understand Intellum’s decision.

This is a shame, I’d have loved to have been part of the initial journey with Evolve 2 but it makes no financial sense to move over until it can support Evolve 1 content - as I’d need access to change my current content ‘just in case’ of policy or legal changes.

It would be nice to reconsider the decision, at least until you have migration working - maybe locking the creation of new content on Evolve 1, only allowing access to alter current content?

If not, I’ll wait for the announcement confirming legacy migration.

Thanks for your advice. That’s quite the issue, New Evolve isn’t all the way there yet and we do have old courses that we’d absolutely have to support and maintain beyond a 30 day preview. But we still have to build for 2026 and ideally we’d want that in the new tool so we’re not migrating and/or rebuilding these new courses later in the year. I hope they’ll reconsider. Another tool is going through a similar product journey and they are keeping the legacy product available as well as the new at no extra cost to existing users.
