Is there a way to prevent a learner from scrubbing through a video’s timeline? We are having issues where learners scrub through videos without actually watching them.
Unfortunately it’s near-impossible to do this in a way that’s still accessible and works on all browsers/devices.
The main Media component does have an option to hide the Evolve video player controls - but the learner can still right-click on the video and show the browser’s native controls. It also doesn’t work on iPhones where the native controls are always shown. Also hiding the controls will prevent the video from being accessible.
The best workaround for this is to follow up the video with some questions that relate to the content in the video. That way you can ensure that the learner has actually paid attention to the content not just let it play through.
Edit: there’s a post here pointing out that you could use Vimeo (via the Video Stream component) as it apparently allows you to hide the controls. But again that’s not going to be accessible and also doesn’t ensure the learner has paid any attention to the content in the video.
