How will New Evolve differentiate itself from Rise?

Hi everyone,

I’m brand new to Evolve and currently exploring the 21-day free trial of New Evolve as a potential addition to my authoring toolkit (I currently use Articulate 360 and Adobe Captivate).

I’m an experienced learning designer and content creator but not a developer, so I rely on others for coding support.

Having read jsparker23’s feedback in the other thread, I’d agree that New Evolve doesn’t yet feel markedly different from Rise. The visual design is cleaner and themes look more sophisticated, but so far the content blocks seem quite similar.

I’m interested to see what additional features are planned for Q4. On my wish list:

  • Branching logic and trigger-based interactions.
  • Survey-style questions (no right/wrong answers) with tailored feedback.
  • Reflection or notes blocks with free-text entry and downloadable responses (feaures like Wobo app delivered natively).

Could someone from Evolve share whether these features are on the roadmap, and if so, what timelines we might expect?

My main frustrations with Articulate/Rise have been stagnant product development over many years, an unclear roadmap and inflexible pricing (paying for both Rise and Storyline when I rarely use Storyline). Intellum has a great opportunity here, but at the moment I am not jumping to subscribe to Evolve. With stronger interactive features, branching logic, and more varied question types, I think many Rise users would make the move. Pricing for Evolve looks reasonable.

Finally, I’d echo jsparker23’s point about the lack of streamlined, SCORM-compliant LMSs for smaller B2B/B2C customers who need e-commerce functionality. Reach is promising but still lacks e-commerce and sufficient security for knowledge-based organisations selling proprietary content. Intellum LMS sounds excellent but seems to be among those geared to large enterprises primarily training their own staff. There’s definitely an untapped market here.

Hi @KathrynR thanks very much for your thoughts, it’s very interesting to read. Colleagues of mine may have more detailed responses on some of your specific points, but I can update you on one aspect - Logic. This is being developed as we speak, but it is early days so I can’t categorically say this would be a Q4 release right now, but it is one of the main aspects of current development.

And please be reassured there is no danger of stagnant product development ! Intellum is very focused on developing Evolve. We will be adding new features regularly.

Cheers-Sam
