I’m new to Evolve and currently in process of converting an old Adapt course into Evolve.
In Adapt there was an element called “Hidden Hotspots” which displayed an image, that let users click on (find) pre-defined areas (rectangles) on the image. The areas that were “correct” could then be evaluated and had feedbacks etc.
The component were really nice since ot focused the image rather than words, which in my view many times offers a better interface, as well as a good variety to just multiple choice Q’s.
My Q: Is such a component availabe (I can’t see it in my 21-day trial business version)? Or is in the making? Or - are there a third party add-on with more elements?
I’m not familiar with ‘hidden hotspots’ (I used to work on the Adapt project before I joined Evolve), is it maybe one that’s not publicly available?
We don’t have anything that displays hidden hotspots - and I can’t see it being very likely we’d add something like that - mainly because it doesn’t sound like the kind of interaction that could really be made to be accessible…
I’m sorry but I believe it’s a deal-breaker if you don’t plan to have it in th near future, which is a real pain since I really love your tool.
Another thing we would need is the ability to “copy-sections-between-courses” which is a big time saver since we have maybe 50 variations of almost the same content in different courses.
From our point of view Accessibility does have to be a concern.
Sure it might be the case that the nature of some content/kinds of interaction mean they will not be accessed with a screenreader - but that hidden hotspots interaction is not even keyboard-accessible - and it would be much harder to argue that no-one would ever access that kind of interaction unless they were using a mouse/touchpad.
Hi Anders, I can think of three ways to do that. In order of how easy to build - First, the infographic component. Second the simulation component. Third, and weirdest, the hotspot component, with the markers set to invisible in the article style. I agree with @Matt_Leathes that none of these options will be accessible. Where we’ve been asked to build that kind of thing we build a second component that presents the same info but is accessible.
Hi Andy. Since I’m in the process of evaluating Evolve to see if is the right tool for us, I’m I right in understanding that the infographic component is not yet available in new Evolve, only in Legacy (which I haven’t got access to)?
@Matt: I understand your concern about accessability - even though our users are all seeing… I’ll continue to evaluate and see if I can come up with an alternative.
When it comes to the Infograpics component: Do you know when will it be available in new Evolve?
I would love if I, from the IFRAME, could also send “started”, “incomplete”, “failed” messages that I could react to in new Evolve! Now, looking at the your code it’s only possible to send “complete”…
…and, thank you! I got a trial license to the Legacy version
By the way: Is it possible to remove the “exit course” button? It’s not needed and just strange when the course is served from web…
