I need help!
I have created several versions of the same course in different languages (simply duplicating the course and then changing the text to relevant language). All has worked as expected…until I had to do the same with Arabic.
Arabic is read from right to left and when I past the content, even with right alignment, it still (apparently) reads wrong.
I cannot seem to find a place to change the default language for the course to Arabic. I’ve tried to create a langauge version but that doesn’ t make any difference.
I’m happy to create a new course and copy paste the content in Arabic but need to have it read the right way…
Doing this will also ensure the UI is completely switched into right-to-left mode.
I would also advise doing this as a ‘language version’ with the ‘Version Title’ set to ar (the general language code for Arabic*) - doing this ensures that the exported output includes the correct language code set in the content so that the browser knows what language the content is in, this can be particularly important if your course needs to be accessible as it allows assistive technology such as a screen reader to determine what language the content is in.
* if you want to use a more specific language code such as ar-EG (Egyptian Arabic) that should be fine
I had the same issue with Hebrew - so I will go ahead and try the solution you have suggested.
If I enable the “Set course as RTL” affects the whole theme? or only the specific page?

the RTL setting shown above will affect all content within the course (if you toggle it on and launch preview, you can see what it will look like - you can always toggle off again without any issues).
What Matt means about language versions is the original poster was duplicating their course rather than using the inbuilt language versions feature, where you can either export a file in various formats to translate the text content and re-import, or create a manual language version where you translate the text in the course directly.
You can find this functionality in evolve by opening your course, clicking the Versions button in the left hand menu towards the bottom, then select the Language Versions tab.
We are translating the text by ourselves.
I also copy past an Evolve page in English and then replace the text in the new page (course). Then connect this page to Skillshop intellum. So far it goes well, but I would like to understand the advantages of the language versions on Evolve. Can you explain more? if our process is less efficient?
Hi @Shoval_Shirom the advantage with doing it the standard way is that your translated versions are kept under the original course (in the language versions section) and you can easily switch from original to translated. Your method is perfectly valid, although there is the chance for manual error when copy/pasting. I guess our method is geared mainly towards translating a course into multiple language versions and keeping them all in one place to keep track of them.

Unfortunately I have zero experience with Hebrew so I can’t even tell what’s wrong! I’d also need access to your course to be able to diagnose the issue. Probably best for you to contact Evolve support.
