Just checking - do you mean Media Grid component, or Gallery component?
If it’s Gallery, then the background colour of the thumbnail bar is set by the Component item Background Colour in the theme -
(I changed mine from blue to red so you can see which i mean).
Bear in mind if you change this, then you change all the component items at once. If you want to change JUST this and not the others, you will need to use an article style.
