Just got my hands on New Evolve and it looks great. Feels more like a modern web design tool than an e-learning tool - which I like. Especially like that there is something akin to an undo button!
One thing I noticed is that if you want to include an assessment, the only option seems to be to include every question in a course. That’s going to be a pretty big issue because many courses will use exploratory or low-stakes questions for most of the course and then have a separate set of assessment questions. In Old Evolve you can specify which questions are part of the assessment. Are there plans to bring that feature into new Evolve? (Or have I just not found that setting yet?)
For ‘exploratory’ questions (we’re calling them ‘ungraded’) that’s functionality we’ll be releasing next week. They won’t be included in the assessment - given that they have no ‘right’ answer.
As for being able to choose which (non-exploratory) questions are included, I’ll raise that as a feature request.
Not sure if you spotted this but every time you make a ‘destructive’ change to a course (like delete an element, section etc) Evolve automatically makes a backup for you… and you can manually create backups whenever you need too.
Say WHAT NOW!!?
I knew about setting up auto-backups, but I thought they were daily backups rather than intelligent ones. Good to know - thanks Matt!
That sounds good - I will check it out once it’s released. Thanks Matt
Yeah, this seemed like the better option to go with for new Evolve. Bear in mind they are only kept for 30 days, though.
If you want a long-term copy of an auto-backup you can just rename it and it becomes a ‘manual’ backup.
This has been released today. In the Multiple Choice/Response Question element go to Settings > Ungraded. When enabled, you’ll have the option to set ‘Ungraded’ feedback (feedback text/image that’s shown regardless of what answer the user chooses).
Thanks Matt - I will give it a go!
