Please consider search and replace + a few more questions

Hi All, excited to see a few more new components showed up in New Evolve this week. Thank you all for the effort! A few opportunities/questions:

Search and Replace/Spellcheck functionality - please, please, please consider adding some ability for us to search and replace and spellcheck throughout a course. I was hoping with the new WYSIWYG editor this would be here, but not yet. There are still MANY hidden text fields so it’s not possible to use browser based tools to do this reliably. In the past, I was pulling an HTML export from the language versions tab to sort of get around this, but that option is missing now too, so we are really stuck.

Logic and the ability to show/hide elements - I believe this is on the roadmap, but it’s huge for single page courses and helping us guide learners through the content in meaningful ways. Do you have a timeline for when this may be available?

Tab/Accordion - any plans to allow for media to be added here? Right now, I’m only seeing an option for text.

Block/Component animations - will these be included so we can add in a little movement natively?

Components from Legacy - Dialog, Infographic, Simulation

Last question - I’m super curious if there will be any new bespoke elements coming soon. Are there any teasers that could be shared?

Thanks for all that you do.

Hi @Emily!

Thanks for this detailed feedback and highlighting the areas of friction that you’d like Evolve to address. I can confirm that the next few pieces of work are some updates to themes and theming (almost finished), the Cloud Sync integration between the new Evolve and the Intellum Platform, and Logic.

The short-term roadmap and strategy is to continue to beef up the new Evolve with the power you’ve come to rely on in Legacy Evolve. This will make course migration from Legacy to new Evolve possible and give power user orgs like yours the option of fully cutting over to the new Evolve authoring platform.

At that point, we will begin to pick up work on net new elements and new capabilities. Along the way as we see opportunities to add in quick-win bespoke capabilities, we will (like some of the theming work you’ll see in the next few weeks). This is a fun transition time where users that have been with Evolve for a while get to see this new version of the product start to take wing.

I appreciate you getting in there and using the new version, providing feedback, and letting us know the kinds of things that will make the new Evolve your go-to choice in the future.

+1 on adding media for the tab and accordion elements.

Talking about media, I used to be able to upload multiple files at once, but looks like I can only add one at a time now. Also, I can’t seem to replace asset in the new Evolve either.

Hello,

Another +1 for adding media to tab and accordion blocks. I’m still on the trial version of new Evolve and also use Rise a lot. Ability to add AI audio to blocks in Rise is game changing. I know AI integration is something you’re working on.

It would be great to have more options for managing assets in the assets library e.g. ability to add replace existing assets rather than deleting and importing new, ability to control alt text for images at the asset library level and override in the course only if needed.

Also re-posting request for coaching/diagnostic-style question formats: multiple choice/multiple response with no correct or incorrect answer and the ability to give response-specific feedback. This would provide great flexibility from an instructional design perspective, especially in soft skills training, likewise free text reflection-style formats where the responses are collated for a course and available to download at the end. The most interesting questions for adult learners are not ones with a right or wrong answer.

Really enjoying using New Evolve, the flexible layouts and theming are a cut above Rise for sure. It’s really easy to use and looking forward to seeing how it develops.
