# Open input component - showing text submitted in text area when module is reopened

Text typed into the text area of an open input disappears when the learner closes and reopens the module.

I realise this can be saved to a variable, but I would like it still display in the text area as well. Is there anyway to enable this?

Yes, by enabling the Local Storage extension.

Hi Matt, do you think this may ever be saved into SCORM 2004? As not all clients are keen on using Local Storage.
